DHS Softball Wins Regional Title!

The Lady Bulldogs Varsity Softball Team defeated McKee Academy of Technology in a very competitive eight inning game on Tuesday night.

The winning pitcher Brandi Hazen hit a solo home run to tie the game in the fifth inning. Centerfielder Katie Hunter made two game saving plays in the seventh inning. Hunter scored the winning run in extra innings on a passed ball by the McKee catcher.

DHS Baseball

The Varsity baseball team played at home against the North Port Bobcats on April 19. The game was temporarily rain delayed. After seven close innings, the Bulldogs lost 2-1. It was a well-played game. It was also Senior Night for the Dogs, honoring Brady Anderson, Manny Perez, Dalton Green, Josh Driggers, Isiah Bryant, Dylan Brewer, Parker Hall, and Antonio Washington. Thank you all for the dedication you have shown the baseball team over the years!

DeSoto will now advance to the state Semi Finals to be held in Clermont next Tuesday against Sateliite High School.

FCAT testing is now complete. Thanks DHS students and teachers for working so hard during FCAT testing!



Science Fair Winners

Eight students from DHS participated in the 2011 Regional Science Fair held Feb. 16 - 18 in Sebring: Katlin Carr, Vanessa Cisneros, Jenna Heleski, Latrevious Jennings, Mariana Maldonado, Wally Martin, Jessica McClendon and Keith Schaper. Receiving White ribbons were: Katlin Carr, Latrevious Jennings and Keith Schaper. Receiving Red ribbons were: Vanessa Cisneros and Jenna Heleski. Receiving a Blue ribbon & $25 cash award: Mariana Maldonado.

DHS 2011 Fine Arts Festival

The DHS Art Show will be held on May 13, 2011. It will be held in the Media Center all day until 7:00 p.m. The art show is a presentation of the student's artwork. The deadline for artwork submission will be the last week of April. Paintings, sculptures, 2D and 3D artwork, photographs, drawings, and other types of artwork may be sumbitted to Mrs. Heuer.

Bulldog Football Players College Bound.

Three DHS Bulldog football players have received football scholarships for the 2012 college football season. Seniors Dalton Wertz will play at the University of Central Florida. Isiah Bryant signed with Avila University in Kansas City. Antonio Washington will play at Florida Atlantic University.
